Most Solar Panel systems should work with your combination boiler. The solar system generates hot water that is not going through the combi boiler. However you do need a new cylinder tank to fit a solar system to your boiler. The 4th generation of solar panel works by heating a fluid which is pumped into an element into your hot water tank. The element heats the water and then comes out through your system. You do need a pressurised cylinder tank though for it to work on a combi boiler.
These enclosed evacuated tubes on the solar panel are mounted on what is called a Solar Collector. The radiation from the Sun activates a coating that in turn heats up tubes on the inside. I must warn that there are cheap imitation systems about cost £2500 to £3500 from DIY supply only websites.
They are call Flat Panel Collectors. These only have water flowing through them that gets warm in hot weather. If you live in Spain; Greece; Thailand one of these systems will do you well. However if you live in the UK what has the weather done in that last week. Yeah right. So you would be having a very cold shower. 4th Generation Solar Panel are the suited best to UK climate conditions. They cost a bit more and you do have to have them professional installed by a Qualified Solar installer.
