An innovative and energy-efficient skirting-board heating system is being introduced by Technology Marketing Management who are actively seeking stockists and fitters throughout the UK and much of Europe, Africa and the Middle East on behalf of the manufacturer, Frog srl. Up to 15 metres of the product is offered free of charge for a first installation in each territory to demonstrate the product and train fitters in its use. Approved to EN441 and 442, Climaboard is an easy-to-install, inexpensive and environmentally-friendly heating system with extensive benefits, giving high levels of radiated heat over an entire room with as little as 1C maximum difference in temperature for environments up to 3 meters high.
It provides quick and efficient control over room temperature, with energy savings of up to 30% as there are no accumulations of wasted heat below the ceiling.
Priced at around Euro 62 per metre (retail), typical installations require around 200cms per cubic metre at water temperatures of 55 to 60oC.
An electrical version is also available with output of 200W per metre.
How does Climaboard work?.
Climaboard takes advantage of 'the Coanda effect', in which the tendency of a moving fluid, either liquid or gas, is to attach itself to a surface and flow along it.
Hence, Climaboard is usually mounted inside rooms on the exterior or structural walls where the warm air generated at skirting board level rises following the surface of the wall, effectively drying the wall and acting as an insulating layer to prevent cold air entering the room through the walls.
Additional benefits include elimination of damp and mould around corners and exterior walls and less micro-dust as there is no extra air circulation.
Rooms heated this way quickly achieve a feeling of comfort quite unlike that of conventional systems.
There are no hot or cold spots because the walls themselves become part of the heating system, first absorbing and then releasing heat steadily and evenly into the room.
The radiated heat from the walls is unobtrusive, healthy and beneficial, giving a feeling of comfort even at relatively low temperatures.
A simple analogy is that it's like the gentle warmth of the sun on a spring day.
What's new about Climaboard?.
While the concept of skirting board heating is not new, Frog has perfected the system and has patented a number of features that overcome the problems associated with other designs, in particular those of noise or loss of thermal conductivity caused by differential expansion rates between copper pipes and aluminium fins.
They have also developed special machinery to automate the manufacturing process to provide a high quality product at high production rates with consistent yield at an affordable price.
Available off-the-shelf in white to RAL 9010, Climaboard is also available to special order in an infinite variety of finishes including wood and marble effect.
In fact, Frog claims to be able to match almost any surface finish just from a sample or digital photo.
How does it compare to underfloor heating systems?.
Climaboard offers all the benefits of floor heating systems but without the attendant problems.
Both provide heat from the lowest point with very little temperature difference from floor to ceiling, are energy efficient and offer the beneficial effects of radiant heat.
However, Climaboard does not share the disadvantages such as the uncomfortable 'hot foot syndrome', high installation and repair costs (if something goes wrong you have to dismantle the floor to get at the mass of pipes!) and the slow rate of change in temperature.
And it's very easy to retrofit without the need to dig up or raise the floor!.
Climaboard can be easily fitted to buildings old or new.
