Aircogen CHP Solutions, the business unit of Peter Brotherhood that specialises in the design and manufacture of combined heat and power (CHP) systems, has secured an order to supply New Romford Hospital with a 725 kW CHP unit. Cummins Diesel Power Generation placed the order with the company in August 2005. Aircogen will supply the MTHW (medium temperature hot water) CHP system complete with a plc based control system, offering a remote control and monitoring capability.
The unit will be installed inside the hospital by June 2006 and will provide them with base load power and medium temperature hot water for space heating and domestic use.
The company won the order due to its proven experience in the design and installation of high jacket temperature, medium voltage, natural gas engine-driven CHP systems.
The Aircogen CHP unit will deliver low cost power and heating to the hospital and significantly reduce CO2 emissions as compared with conventional mains electricity and gas fired boilers.
Due to its highly efficient design the fuel input to the unit is exempt from the climate change Levy.
